North Naples, FL : One person injured after car crashes into Bob Evans restaurant on Friday evening, February 6, 2015
One person was taken to the hospital after a car crashed into a North Naples restaurant Friday evening.
Collier County deputies tell us they received a call at 6:46 p.m. in reference to a car crashing into the Bob Evans located at 2570 Northbrook Plaza.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the driver was parked in a marked parking space at the restaurant.
The 87-year-old driver backed the vehicle out of the parking space and attempted to adjust the position of the vehicle within the parking space. That's when the driver accelerated and crashed into the building.
Collier County EMS responded to the scene and treated those who sustained injuries.
One person was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The driver was not injured.
Collier County building inspection went to the scene to assess the building, and deemed it structurally sound.
The driver is being cited for careless driving. Troopers are also recommending her for re-examination to determine if she's fit to hold a driver's license.
