WADE, ME : Fatal crash in Aroostock County Teen rescued following fiery crash in Wade on Saturday, July 15, 2017
State police are investigating a nearly-fatal crash in Aroostock County.
Investigators said a 16-year-old from Washburn was traveling eastbound on the New Dunntown Road in Wade when he lost control and struck a tree Saturday morning.Police said the impact of the crash was so severe that the 1998 Buick Regal was nearly split in half, and immediately caught fire.It crash happened just after 8:15 a.m.
The teen was pulled from the burning car by Damian Languell, who lives nearby.
Police said Languell cut the teen out of his seat belt, and pulled him out a rear window of the vehicle, before dragging him to safety.
The young man was transported to Aroostook Medical Center with severe injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation but speed is believed to have been a factor.
