Joplin, MO : Area wrecks injure five on Tuesday, January 3rd 2017
Two Neosho residents suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle collision at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 60, a mile east of Neosho in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
One of the drivers, Johnathan A. Hilton, 20, was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital for treatment of injuries. A second driver, Amanda L. Hurn, 27, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin.
Hilton was driving a westbound car that collided with a pickup truck driven by Shane S. Smith, 35, of Neosho, when Smith failed to yield the right of way and pulled into Hilton's path, the patrol said. The collision caused Smith's northbound truck to strike Hurn's southbound Chevrolet Tahoe, the patrol said.
• Three residents of Shell Knob sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on Route YY at Shell Knob in Barry County, the patrol said.
The driver of one of the vehicles, Chisty M. Lodwick, 41, and two of her passengers, Hunter R. Langley, 8, and Brooke M. Langley, 9, were taken to Mercy Hospital Cassville.
Their westbound car collided with a northbound pickup truck driven by Robert A. Marts, 83, of Shell Knob, when Marts failed to yield and turned into the path of their car, the patrol said.
