Elkins,WV : Identities released in fatal Elkins wreck on March, Monday 26th 2018
Officials with the Elkins Police Department have confirmed the identities of three individuals killed in a crash on the Beverly Five-lane Monday.
Sgt. G.L. Brown, investigating officer, said Russel Wilfong, 61, Clarie Wilfong, 59, and Thomas Wilfong, 36, all of Huttonsville, were killed in the single-vehicle crash which happened around 4:50 p.m. Monday.
Thomas Wilfong and Clarie Wilfong were both pronounced dead on scene; Russel Wilfong was transported by Randolph County EMS for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries, according to Brown.
“No one knows exactly what happened – even witnesses said they veered off the road and hit the ditch before they started rolling,” Brown said. “Unfortunately, we don’t have much to go on because all three occupants lost their lives.”
The Chevrolet Lumina came to rest on its side, several feet up an embankment from the edge of the Five-lane in the parking lot of Precision Pre-Owned Auto.
He added two dogs were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, noting one was picked up by the Randolph County Humane Officer and the other was “rushed” to an animal hospital for treatment.
Assisting on scene were the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police and Elkins Fire Department.
