Oconomowoc police are looking for a person of interest after a woman was found slain inside her home by her brother at the River Place apartments on Oconomowoc's west side overnight. The victim is Christina Schuster, 34.
A special command post from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office was set up in the parking lot of the River Place Apartments on Tuesday as investigators went back and forth to the apartment where Schuster was killed.
She was found dead by her brother around 10:20 p.m. Monday. Police Chief David Beguhn told WISN 12 News they determined shortly after they arrived they were dealing with a homicide.
Schuster had a single gunshot to her head, police said Wednesday, but no weapon was found inside her apartment. The car registered to her is missing.
This was the second homicide in the city in the past 16 months. Before that, there hadn't been a homicide there for six years.
"It's just in the preliminary stages in trying to locate witnesses and get information. We're also trying to background the individual, as well as friends and relatives and see who her contacts were and also talk to people that our deceased worked with so we can backtrack the last two days," Beguhn said.
The victim's brother told WISN 12 News he is grieving his sister, and the police asked him not to talk with the media.
