Polk County, FL : Central Florida man arrested on DUI manslaughter charge after deadly I-4 crash on Monday, 17th December 2018
A Central Florida man has been arrested on a DUI manslaughter charge after a deadly crash on Interstate 4 during the weekend, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Stephen W. McCullough, 40, of Lakeland caused an accident on I-4 near Memorial Boulevard in Polk County about 9:20 p.m. Sunday, troopers said.
McCullough was speeding eastbound on I-4 when he struck the rear of a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban, the FHP report showed. The driver of the Suburban lost control, flipped over several times and ended up in the median.
Troopers said Gloria Daniel, 40, of Plant City was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, where she died.
McCullough’s blood alcohol level registered at 0.18, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins, an FHP spokesman. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08.
McCullough, who was not injured, was booked into the Polk County Jail.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
