Milwaukee, WI : 16-year-old boy died in rollover crash, damages home on Saturday, January 23, 2016
A crash that ended with a car hitting a home Saturday killed a 16-year-old Milwaukee boy.
Police responded the area of Port Washington Road and Capitol Drive around 10:45 a.m., where a stolen Toyota Camry lie upside down, after hitting a house.
The Camry was heading northbound when it hit an Oldsmobile Alero, police said. The Camry then ran into a nearby house. One of occupants, a 16-year-old boy, was thrown from the car and died. The others ran from the car, leaving him there.
Nobody inside the house or the Oldsmobile was hurt.
Police said speed was a factor in the accident. They are investigating and working to find the names of the Camry's occupants.
The boy who was killed had six prior arrests. He had committed armed robbery and auto theft before and was under probation.
One woman was inside the home that the stolen Camry hit. She was visiting her daughter, who runs a day care in the bottom floor of the home. The two women heard a crash, and ran from outside to see the scene.
The woman's daughter attempted to keep the boy conscious while first-responders came.
"He was alive and then he wasn't anymore," said the woman who preferred to remain unnamed.
Despite damage to the home, a building inspector has deemed the building safe to live in.
