Eastpoint woman was killed in traffic crash on US 98 in Gulf County

An Eastpoint woman was killed and a Port St. Joe couple are both in critical condition follow a Friday afternoon traffic crash on US 98 in Gulf County.

Killed was Jeanetta Hawkins, 42.

Critically injured were Richard MacDonald, 72, and Mary MacDonald, 67, of Port St. Joe.

The Florida Highway Patrol ssays the head on crash happened on US 98 at Good Morning Road west of St. Joe.

Troopers say Richard MacDonald was eastbound on Highway 98 when he drove across the center-line into the westbound traffic where both vehicles crashed head on.

Mrs. Hawkins died shortly after the collision.

Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald were both transported to the trauma unit at Bay Medical/Sacred Heart in Panama City.

The FHP says its investigation is continuing.
