Bensonhurst, NY : Teen bicyclist injured after collision with police vehicle in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, August 31, 2016

A 14-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized after colliding with a police vehicle in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

The teen was riding with three other young cyclists at 18th Ave. and 78th St. in Bensonhurst at about 9:15 p.m. when a marked NYPD vehicle responding to a reported assault headed their way, lights and sirens on, police said.

An early investigation showed three of the four bicyclists got out of the way, but the fourth did not, cops said. The officer behind the wheel tried to avoid the boy, but the teen “fell” onto the car and hit it, an NYPD spokesman said.

Emergency personnel took the teen to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.
