Phoenix, AZ : Woman struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle near 48th Street and Ray Road on Saturday, February 13, 2016

Phoenix police say a woman who was jaywalking was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.

Authorities say the incident happened Saturday at 9:45 p.m. in the suburb of Ahwatukee near 48th Street and Ray Road.

According to police, the woman was crossing the street midblock when she was hit by a Mazda Miata.

The driver stopped to call 911 and remained on the scene.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No one else was injured.

Police say the driver showed no signs of impairment and there are currently no plans to file charges.

The identity of the woman, who was in her 60s, has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
