BARRON, WI: Two die early in crash with semi on U.S. 53 in Barron County on Sunday, 23rd September 2018

Two people died early Sunday in a collision between a semi truck and automobile on U.S. 53 in Barron County.

Mathew Krear, 28,and Morgan Lasley, 20, both of Chetek, died on the scene of the crash north of Haugen.The driver of the semi, Jeremy Loeffelholz, 43, of Orfordville was treated at the scene and released.

According to the Barron County sheriff’s office, Krear was driving an automobile and Lasley was his passenger. Krear’s vehicle was traveling in the southbound lane, but then crossed the median and struck the semi driven by Loeffelholz.

Loeffelholz’s semi was carrying liquid oxygen, but its tanks were not ruptured in the crash.
