Holiday, FL : Baby struck in Holiday hit-and-run crash remains hospitalized on Saturday afternoon July 26th 2014
A young couple was pushing their 4-month-old son in a stroller along Chatlin Rd. in Holiday Saturday afternoon when the unthinkable happened.
A Carolina-blue Crown Victoria veered off the roadway and struck 17-year-old Dakota Harwood. The impact propelled the Holiday teen into his wife Jordan and the stroller. The couple's son, Jayson, was knocked to the ground. The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 pm.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report the driver of the vehicle stopped briefly but fled before authorities and emergency service personnel arrived at the scene.
The baby was airlifted by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for treatment of abrasions and possible internal injuries the report states. Jordan Harwood, 17, was transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of Trinity for treatment of minor inuries.
Dakota Harwood was treated at the scene and released.
Investigators with FHP and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office are on the lookout for the male driver of the Crown Victoria. He is described as a white male in his late 20s' or early 30s' with dark hair.
