A Belleville woman died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Monroe County on Friday.

Monroe County Sheriff Neal Rohlfing confirmed Saturday afternoon that Marcia Andres, 63, of Belleville, died Friday night at Saint Louis University Hospital.

The two-vehicle accident occurred on Maeystown Road, just south of Highway KK, Rohlfing said, between Waterloo and Maeystown. According to police, Andres was driving with her ex-husband, Dennis Grimes, when a car driven by Timothy Burns Jr. crossed the center line and hit her car.

Burns had minor injuries and was taken to Red Bud Regional Hospital. Charges are pending against him, Rohlfing said. He said drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs were found in Burns’ vehicle.

Grimes was transported to St. Anthony’s with non-life threatening injuries.

Rohlfing said Illinois State Police is performing the accident reconstruction.
