MOULTRIE, GA : Driver flees wreck, charged with DUI on Wednesday,11th April 2018

A Savannah man who wrecked a car Wednesday afternoon on a Moultrie roadway was arrested on drunk-driving and other charges.

When police arrived shortly after 6:17 p.m. to Veterans Parkway South and Overlook Drive witnesses reported that the driver had run into the wood line.

When police caught up with the driver, Harold A. Adams, he told them that he left the scene of where he had wrecked the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe because his license was suspended. Adams did not know why he drove off the roadway.

Adams also told officers that he had a few drinks earlier in the day, police said, and refused a test for alcohol in his system.

Adams, 57, 711 E. Broad St., was charged with driving under the influence, driving with suspended license and failure to maintain lane. He also is wanted on an active arrest warrant in Coffee County, police said.

In a separate incident, police arrested a Valdosta woman wanted on active arrest warrants in Berrien, Cook and Lowndes counties.

A Nashville officer called Moultrie police to report that Lakeisha Carson had been arrested there earlier on Wednesday on charges of speeding and driving with suspended license, and would be working at a business in Moultrie. At the time of her arrest, that officer told Moultrie police, Carson had identified herself by her sister’s name. After she had left jail police discovered Carson’s identity by her fingerprints.

Moultrie police located Carson at the location given and she was arrested and taken to Colquitt County Jail.
