CULLEOKA, TN : Mom, child hurt in head-on crash with Maury Co. school bus carrying 25 kids on April, Thursday 6th 2017
A mother and her young child were hurt in a head-on collision with a Maury County bus in Culleoka Thursday afternoon.
It happened on Highway 373 and Glenco Road around 3:10 p.m. after officials say the car veered into the school bus.The driver of the car was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Her 6-year-old’s condition was not immediately released.According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver of the car and the school bus left Culleoka Unit School around the same time, but in different directions, minutes before the crash happened.
Just over two dozen students were on board the bus at the time. One child had a bloody lip and the rest were shaken up, according to an official with Maury County Schools. All of the students were checked out.
A second bus was called to the scene to take the children home.The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
They say it’s possible that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
A blood draw was done on the driver of the Toyota to see if charges will be filed.
