Medford,OK : Man killed in train accident near Medford on September, Sunday 17th 2017
A Woodward man died Sunday when he slipped and fell off of a moving train near Medford.
David Duane McCullum, 43, of Woodward, was walking on top of a Union Pacific train one quarter mile east of Medford at 5:02 p.m. Sunday, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The report states McCullum slipped and fell between train cars and was struck by the train. McCullum was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported by Miller EMS to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Oklahoma City.
The OHP report states the train was operated by Chisholm Trail Terminal (CTT) at the time of the accident.
CTT, located east of Medford, was opened in October 2016 under a limited liability company formed by Farmers Grain Co., Equity Marketing Alliance and CoMark Grain Marketing.
It remains unclear why McCullum was walking on top of the train at the time of the accident.
CTT and Union Pacific representatives were not immediately available for comment.
