Grand Forks, ND : Authorities ID victim of motorcycle crash on DeMers on Wednesday, 22nd August 2018

Officers have identified a Grand Forks woman who died after crashing her motorcycle Wednesday evening on DeMers Avenue, forcing police to shut down part of the street for more than two hours.

Grand Forks Police responded to the crash on the 1100 block of DeMers, where 39-year-old Renee Lillehaugen lost control of her 2000 Harley Davidson just before 8 p.m., according to a news release. The motorcycle was eastbound when it hit the curb and then a traffic pole, the release said.Emergency responders transported Lillehaugen to Altru Hospital, where she died of her injuries, the release said.

It appeared Lillehaugen was not wearing a helmet, Police Sgt. Douglas Wright said. It's unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, he said.
