Seminole County, FL : Woman killed in head-on crash in Seminole County on Wednesday, 27th February 2019

A 31-year-old Rockledge woman died in a head-on collision on State Road 46 in Seminole County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver, who was not immediately identified, was headed east on SR 46 near Prevatt Road shortly after 1:30 p.m., said Lt. Kim Montes, an FHP spokeswoman. When the woman tried to pass other eastbound traffic, she crossed into the westbound lane and hit another vehicle head-on, Montes said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The other driver — identified as Sherry Hamilton, 49, of Geneva — suffered serious injuries and was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

SR 46 was shut down while troopers investigated the crash but has since reopened.
