Maryville, TN : Friendsville crash results in traffic diversion on Tuesday, November, 28th 2017
Authorities had to re-route traffic in Friendsville early Tuesday morning after a garbage truck and sedan were involved in a collision.
Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department public information officer Steve Hargis said the crash occurred outside 333 E. Main St. at around 5:37 a.m.
“It was a T-bone accident where the car hit a garbage truck that was picking up garbage early in the morning,” Hargis said. “It T-boned the garbage truck and the car ended up down an embankment.”
Hargis said both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The crash resulted in both lanes of traffic being closed in that area for some time, Hargis said.
“Getting the car back up the bank (took time),” Hargis said. “And the garbage truck blocked both lanes of the road.”
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate the crash and re-route traffic.
