Roanoke,VI : Forest Road closed for six hours after three-car fatal crash on June, Friday 2nd 2017
A stretch of U.S. 221 just west of Forest Middle School was closed for six hours after a deadly three-vehicle wreck near the intersection of Forest Road and Gladden Circle Friday afternoon.
Bedford County Fire & Rescue Fire Marshal Jeff Pauley said one motorist died at the scene of the crash.
Four other individuals also were involved, and at least two of them were injured. Pauley said one was flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Officials did not release the names of anyone involved in the wreck.
Three people had to be extricated from vehicles, Forest Volunteer Fire Department District Chief Monty Coleman said, as traffic was rerouted around the scene via Gladden Circle.
The wreck occurred at 3:25 p.m., according to a Virginia State Police news release.
