Two Lee County detectives had minor injuries after a suspect rammed their SUV Friday afternoon in North Fort Myers.
They were at the Walmart on NE Pine Island Road to check on the location of a wanted person. They found him in the passenger seat of a car, and as they were arresting him, the driver of that car accelerated, striking the detectives' vehicle.
The driver and passenger in the suspect's vehicle were arrested.
The sheriff's office said the two detectives were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and released.
A woman who was shopping in Walmart told NBC2 that her car was also hit, and several other vehicles were roped off inside the crime scene tape during the investigation.
