Well-known Hopkins Businessman Killed in Head-On Car Crash

Family and friends are mourning the loss of a well-known Hopkins businessman.
Seventy-five-year-old Jim Hance of Brooklyn Park was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday night in Saint Louis Park on the way to his own birthday party.

Investigators say 20-year-old Jorge Juarez crossed the center line. Juarez wasn't hurt and faces several charges including driving under the influence.
Hance owned an Ace Hardware store in Hopkins for several decades.

"Most of all he loved his grandkids and coming to work and serving his community," said co-worker Arnold Ohotto.

The family plans to keep running the hardware store, though it will be closed on Monday so workers can attend Hance's funeral.
