Myrtle Beach man killed in Georgetown County crash

A Thursday morning crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Georgetown County resulted in the death of a Myrtle Beach man.
The crash occurred at around 7:20 a.m. on US 17 at the intersection with Sandy Island Road, north of Litchfield. The driver of a 2006 Buick attempted to cross the highway but failed to yield to a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.Christopher Kirwin, 28, was the driver of the motorcycle. He was transported to the Waccamaw Community Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:48 a.m. due to internal injuries suffered in the crash, the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office said.The 47-year-old driver of the Buick had not been charged in the crash as of Thursday afternoon, though the SCHP was investigating whether charges were warranted.
