Belton, SC : Car crashes after trying to avoid traffic stop, deputies say on Sunday, 3rd February 2019

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a car crashed after speeding away from a traffic stop.

On Sunday night, a deputy tried to stop a car for reckless driving, according to the sheriff's office.Investigators said the car took off while trying to avoid the traffic stop.

As the deputy was trying to catch up, authorities discovered the car had hit a tree.

State troopers said the crash happened around 10:20 p.m. on Cherokee Road near Belton.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
