McHenry, IL : Man died and his wife injured after a crash in northwest suburban McHenry on Monday evening, May 2, 2016

A man died and his wife was airlifted to the hospital Monday evening after a crash in northwest suburban McHenry.

2010 Chevy Corvette traveling eastbound in the 2000 block of Route 120 in McHenry lost control east of the intersection with Chapel Hill Road about 6:30 p.m., according to statements from the McHenry County coroner’s office and McHenry County sheriff’s office. The car left the road and struck several trees before coming to a stop in a wooded area to the east of 2007 Illinois Route 120.

The driver, 34-year-old Cainen Reimann of McHenry, was airlifted to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead at 7:44 p.m., the coroner’s office said. An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week.

Reimann’s wife, 32, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, the coroner’s office said. Her condition was not immediately known.

Reimann and his wife were both wearing seatbelts and the airbags deployed at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office said. Speed is believed to be a factor.

The McHenry County Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Members of the McHenry Fire Protection District, McHenry Police Department and the Lakemoor Police Department also assisted at the scene.
