ASH, NC : One person dead in crash in Ash on Friday, December, 15th 2017

One person was killed in a crash just after 6 p.m. Friday in Ash.

Troopers cited a man involved in the wreck that claimed the life of 27-year-old Leslie Artega, a resident of Ash.

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Ash River and Whiteville roads. Troopers say Eferen Hernandez of Ash ran through a stop sign and was hit by an oncoming SUV.

Hernandez faces charges in Artega's death. He has been cited with several charges including driving without a license and misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle.
