Mannington Twp, NJ : Passenger killed, driver injured in a car crash in Salem County early Sunday, June 5, 2016
One person was killed and another hospitalized after a car struck a pole in Salem County early Sunday, police said.
The car was being driven in Mannington Township — in the area of Route 540 and Pointers Auburn Road — when it crashed into a utility pole. New Jersey State Police troopers from Woodstown station were dispatched to the accident Sunday at 2:09 a.m.
The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was ejected after the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities had not released the man's name as of Sunday morning, saying that his family still needs to be notified.
The driver was transported to Christiana Care Health System in Delaware.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to police.
