At least two people were injured and charges are pending against a juvenile driver after a wrong-way collision on Interstate 35 in Duluth early Monday.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2015 Kia Sorento SUV was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-35 near 40th Avenue West when it struck a northbound 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT head-on at about 3:40 a.m.
The state patrol said the driver of the Kia is a juvenile who is facing charges, but would not release any further information about that individual, the charges they are facing, if anyone else was in the SUV, or the extent of their injuries, if any.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 20-year-old Baxter, Minn., man, and a female passenger suffered what the state patrol said were non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to St. Luke's hospital. Both were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles were totaled, the state patrol reported.
