Charles City, IA :Two hurt after collision east of Charles City on Wednesday, July 15th 2015

Two motorists were sent to the hospital after a crash near the border between Floyd and Chickasaw counties.The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 1:20 pm on Highway 18. 44-year-old Douglas Kellogg of Ionia was westbound when eastbound 70-year-old Alice Rethamel of New Hampton apparently entered Kellogg’s lane and their vehicles collided.Rethemel’s vehicle went into the north ditch and struck a fence. Kellogg’s vehicle spun around and came to rest in the westbound lane of Highway 18.This accident stopped traffic for about an hour. Kellogg and Rethamel were transported to the hospital. No word on their conditions. An investigation is underway.AMR Ambulance, Charles City and Ionia Fire Departments, Floyd County Search and Rescue, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office and Chickasaw County ambulance, emergency management and search and rescue all assisted at the scene.
