Lake Twp, OH : Two people injured in crash involving car and two semi trucks on SR-420/I-280 near Ohio Turnpike Thursday, July 30, 2015

Northbound lanes of State Route 420/I-280 were closed Thursday morning after a crash injured multiple people.

The crash happened on SR-420 at Libbey Road, south of the area where SR-420 becomes I-280, just before 7:30 a.m. A car and two semi trucks were involved.

Police said the car and one semi were heading northbound on SR 240 when another semi turned left in front of the vehicles, smashing the car between the trucks.

The driver of the car, Giuseppe Summa, 74, had to be rescued from his vehicle. He was taken by Life Flight to a Toledo hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.

The driver of the semi heading northbound, Kyle Kuenzli, 45, was also seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to a hospital by Lake Township EMS.

The other semi driver, Sergey Ledeney, 50, of Quebec was not injured. Police gave him a ticket for failure to obey a traffic control device.

All three vehicles involved were heavily damaged in the crash.

The southbound lanes of SR 420 were closed for about an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Police said all three people involved were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.
