TROY, NY : Troy Police vehicle involved in a crash on Tuesday, 28th August 2018

City police said a Troy police vehicle was involved in a crash Tuesday morning.

According to a release, the crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of River and Douw streets.

Police said the officer was traveling southbound on River Street when he collided with a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Douw Street.

Assistant Police Chief Daniel DeWolf said both drivers were treated at the scene by Troy Fire Department medics and the officer involved sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by a TFD ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.DeWolf said the unidentified officer has since been released from the hospital.

Police said the other driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to get checked out and according to DeWolf, has also been released from the hospital.

DeWolf said the unidentified female driver traveling on Douw Street was ticketed for traveling the wrong way on a one way street and for failure to use caution in an intersection.
