A Smethport woman died early Saturday in a three-vehicle accident in Armstrong County.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported her identity to be 51-year-old Kimberly Ann Gore.
Police did not release the names of anyone involved in the crash.
According to Kittanning-based state police, at 12:22 a.m. Saturday, a Jeep driven by a 39-year-old man from Kittanning was traveling west on Route 422 behind a car driven by a 55-year-old man from Kittanning. The car was slowing as it approached Route 2021 to make a left turn. The Jeep was unable to stop, and it struck the car from behind, pushing it into the path of a sport utility vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman from Kittanning.
Gore, who was a passenger in the car, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police stated.
Police reported that the driver of the car Gore was riding in was also ejected, and he was transported via medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of severe injuries; also flown to UPMC Presbyterian were the driver and a passenger from the Jeep. The SUV driver and a passenger were treated for minor injuries.
