Des Moines, IA : Kenneth Dever Chapman, 43, dead after a motorcycle versus car accident in the 4100 block of Broadway Ave. on Monday, April 13, 2015

An Altoona man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash Monday with a car.

The crash was reported at 5:48 p.m. in the 4100 Block of Broadway Ave. in Des Moines.

A Polk County deputy near the scene arrived first and started CPR on the motorcycle rider, Kenneth Dever Chapman, 43.

Chapman was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center and died later.

Police said Erin Buechler, 36, of Des Moines, pulled out of a driveway to turn westbound onto Broadway Ave. She said she didn't see the eastbound motorcycle.

The bike hit the rear driver's side of the car and ejected Chapman.

Police said Buechler was cited for failure to yield when entering a highway.
