Fort Dodge,IA : FD bicyclist hurt, cited in crash on June, Monday 26th 2017
A Fort Dodge man riding his bike across First Avenue South was injured Monday night when he crashed into an oncoming car, according to Sgt. Don McLaren, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.
The accident was reported at 9:58 p.m.
David Ammerman was reportedly traveling southbound on South 16th Street, McLaren said.
Tara Ely, of Callender, was traveling eastbound on First Avenue South in her car.
Ammerman allegedly failed to obey the stop sign on 16th Street and crashed into Ely’s car.
Ammerman was cited for failure to obey a traffic sign.
According to Joshua Carlisle, of Fort Dodge, Ammerman flipped over top of the vehicle before landing on the ground.
Ammerman was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
McLaren believes those injuries were not life-threatening.
The Fort Dodge Police Department, Fort Dodge Fire Department, and UnityPoint Health paramedics were on scene.
