Second person dies after January crash

A second passenger in a Jan. 25 crash on Trussville-Clay Road has died.The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said the 21-year-old died this morning at UAB Hospital. Corley was taken off life support Tuesday, and pronounced dead this morning.

The following statement was issued this morning on the "Pray for Eric Corley" Facebook page.
"With a heavy heart, I am sad to say that Eric has gone to be with Our Lord this morning. He will be missed by so many and he will never be forgotten. Please continue to pray for his family. We love you Eric! Fly high sweet boy!'' according to a statement on the community Facebook page, which was formed two days after the crash.

The accident happened about 5:15 p.m. on that Friday night when a 2002 Ford Escape driven by a 17-year-old girl ran off the road in the 6700 block of Trussville-Clay Road. Authorities said the Ford Escape struck a large rock in a ditch.
Along with the driver, there were three males and one female in the car.

Their ages are 20, 18, 15 and 16. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and the others suffered serious injuries. All five were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
