GREENWOOD, SC : Coroner identifies man killed in collision on US 25 in Upstate on Monday 5th, September 2016

Highway Troopers reported a fatal collision in Greenwood County early Monday morning.

The collision occurred on US 25 at 2:45 a.m., troopers said.

James Henry Davis, 38-years-old from Honea Path, was pronounced dead on scene, according to the report.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and was ejected and entrapped, troopers said. The man had to be extracted from the vehicle using mechanical means.

According to troopers, the man was traveling South on US 25 in a 2008 Toyota 4-Door when he ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Davis's cause of death was blunt force trauma, the coroner said.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenwood County Coroner's Office.
