Sheriff's office releases name of resident killed after crashing into tree
The man who died Wednesday morning after his white box truck crashed into a tree on Whittaker Road has been identified as James Edward Wright Jr.Joyce Williams, Huron Valley Ambulance spokesperson, said a call for the crash came in at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday. Paramedics were dispatched there and they pronounced the driver dead at the scene, she said.Derrick Jackson, Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office director of community engagement, said the 37-year-old Ypsilanti Township man was driving southbound just south of Merritt Road near Sea Mist Drive when his vehicle crossed the center line.
He went across the northbound lane and, although he didn't hit any oncoming traffic, hit a tree on that side of the road head on, Jackson said.
Wright's name was released after the sheriff's office was able to notify his family of his death. He was the only occupant in the truck.
