Shawnee, OK : A motorcyclist was injured in a crash on SH 18 in north Shawnee on May, Monday 1st 2017
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 5:18 p.m. just south of Moccasin Trail Road in Pottawatomie County.
A 2011 Dodge pickup driven by Sydney L. Hayes, 58, Chandler, and a 2007 Yamaha XV25 motorcycle driven by Ricky C. Bishop, 66, Meeker, were northbound on State Highway 18, the OHP said.
The motorcyclist was on the shoulder attempting to merge onto roadway, the OHP said, causing the pickup to strike the motorcycle in the rear.
Troopers said Bishop was separated from the cycle, which came to rest on the northbound shoulder.
Bishop was transported by REACT EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with head, trunk internal and leg injuries, where he was listed in serious condition, the patrol said. Hayes was not injured.
Cause of the collision was listed as being an improper turn from direct course, the teletype reads.
