Plainview, TX : Motorcyclist killed in multi-vehicle accident at 50th and Indiana on September 16 2016

A motorcyclist has died after a multi-vehicle crash.

The accident happened around 6:30 pm at the intersection of 50th Street and Indiana Avenue.

A least four vehicles were involved, including a motorcycle. One person was injured.

The driver of the motorcycle, Sammy Castaneda, 50, was taken to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

According to police the Castaneda was stopped at a red light facing eastbound on 50th when a truck hit Castaneda from behind. Mutliple witnesses say the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The impact sent both vehicles into the middle of the intersection where they hit two other vehicles, an SUV and another truck, that were traveling northbound on Indiana.

Traffic was being diverted in the area. Accident investigation personnel are currently on scene.
