More than a dozen people were injured this morning after a truck ran a red light and struck an RTC bus in the central valley.

Metro Police responded about 7 a.m. to the intersection of McLeod Street and Sahara Avenue.

A man was driving a 2007 Ford F-150 east on Sahara Avenue when he failed to stop at a red traffic signal and struck the right side of a southbound RTC bus carrying 20-25 passengers, police said.

Ten bus passengers, the 36-year-old driver of the Ford and three to four passengers of the truck were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical, police said. The 59-year-old bus driver did not sustain any injuries.

The Associated Press had originally said 22 people were injured in the crash.

The driver of the Ford did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The intersection of McLeod and Sahara was reopened about 3:30 p.m.

The crash and the identities of the passengers involved remains under investigation.
