Leavenworth, KS : A man was in critical condition after a vehicle overturned early morning on April, Monday 17th 2017
A man was in critical condition after a vehicle overturned early Monday morning south of Tonganoxie, according to a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Another person suffered less severe injuries in the crash.
The crash was reported about five minutes after midnight on Chieftain Road, or U.S. 24-40, near 222nd Street, according Undersheriff Jim Sherley.
The vehicle, a 2007 Ford F-250 pickup, was considered a total loss following the wreck.
The driver, a 60-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, and the passenger, a 65-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, were transported by Leavenworth County EMS to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas.
The driver suffered what were described as moderate injuries. The passenger suffered critical injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit at the hospital, according to Sherley.
The driver admitted that he had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The passenger was wearing a seat belt.
Both men admitted to drinking alcohol before the crash, according to Sherley.
The accident investigation is ongoing.
