A town man died after a bicycle accident on Savage Street, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Steven Zavatkay, 44, of Southington, died of blunt force trauma to his head. His death was ruled accidental, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Zavatkay was riding his bicycle about 2:37 a.m. on Savage Street on Friday, said Lt. Michael Baribault, police spokesman. Zavatkay’s bicycle went off the road, striking a utility pole, Baribault said. Zavatkay was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries.
