New Haven, CT : Old Saybrook police identify Essex woman killed in fiery crash on Friday September 30 2016

Police have identified a woman who died Friday night in a fiery crash in the northern part of town.

Heather Gleason, 22, of the Ivoryton section of Essex, died at the scene of the accident that took place at the intersection of Middlesex Turnpike and Bokum Road.

The crash remains under investigation and police are continuing to determine its caused based on evidence gathered from the scene, Old Saybrook police Lt. Kevin Roche said Tuesday in a release.

Police who responded to the area at 10:41 p.m. Friday found Gleason’s vehicle fully engulfed in flames and tried to pull her from the wreckage but she did not survive, according to the report.

Two officers were treated at the Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook for injuries they suffered during the rescue attempt and released a short time later.
