Zuber, FL : Woman killed after being ejected from and run over by her own vehicle following two-car crash in Martin on Friday, December 26, 2014

A woman was killed Friday night when her car was struck by another car, causing the victim's vehicle to spin around, ejecting her into the roadway, where authorities say she was run over by her own vehicle.

The crash on County Road 25A and Northwest 110th Street blocked traffic in both directions on CR 25A, which is a busy roadway.

One of the vehicles in the accident struck the base of a wooden utility pole and the pole was severely damaged. Duke Energy officials were called to the scene to assess the damage. A Duke Energy official said they will replace the pole, and that no one had lost power.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, one car was westbound and had stopped at the stop sign at Northwest 100th Street. The vehicle then moved beyond the stop sign and entered onto CR 25A. A second car, a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Candace Perry, 30, of Ocala, that was traveling southbound on CR 25A struck the front of the car coming from Northwest 100th Street and spun it around 360 degrees. Troopers said the impact ejected the driver through the passenger's window and onto the roadway.

The car then ran over the driver as it spun around, killing her, officials said. The deceased was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.

Perry's vehicle then struck the wooden utility pole. Perry was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition, authorities said. It's unknown if Perry was wearing a seat belt.

Across the street from where the crash occurred was a memorial site for Euniyah Glover, a 23-month-old girl who died in 2006 when he was ejected from his mother's vehicle when it struck two horses that had escaped from a nearby pasture.

Marc Ash, who lives close by, said he was going outside to smoke a cigarette when he heard what sounded like "a loud bomb." He said he went outside and saw the wreckage. "It's sad to know that this happened after Christmas and for someone to get the news that their loved one has died," Ash said.
