CANTON, OH : Head-on collision injures driver on U.S. 62 on Saturday, September 2, 2017

A head-on collision sent one driver to the hospital Saturday and closed a lane of U.S. Route 62 for roughly an hour.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate what caused a driver heading east on Route 62 to swerve left of center and strike an oncoming motorist shortly after 7 p.m. near Rowland Avenue NE. The eastbound driver, whose name was not released Saturday, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for an unspecified injury.

The driver of the vehicle heading west was not injured, according to a sergeant with the sheriff’s office.

Emergency responders closed one of the two westbound lanes of traffic on the four-lane highway for roughly an hour. No further details were available Saturday night.
