PEORIA, IL : Peoria man died in a crash on April, Saturday 15th 2017
A Peoria man died before the sport utility vehicle he was driving crashed and caught fire Saturday morning, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
William Booker Sr., 66, died of an “medical event” before the crash, Harwood said after an autopsy Sunday. He did not release details about the medical event.
Harwood said Saturday that at 9:10 a.m., Booker, who lived in the 700 block of East McClure Avenue, was seen driving a Chevy Avalanche east down Abington Street at a high rate of speed. The SUV crossed Jefferson Avenue and then Adams Street before striking two parked flatbed semitrailers in the parking lot of O’Brien Steel Service Co. The Peoria Fire Department found the Chevy in the lot partially hanging over a retaining wall. The SUV was in flames. The fire was extinguished and Booker’s body was found in the driver’s seat.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no other injuries were reported.
