Ellsworth, KS : A Holyrood man died in a wreck Friday morning on May 16, 2014
James L. Thach, 66, of Holyrood, was killed when his pickup collided with a semitrailer at Kansas Highway 156 and Fifth Road 5 miles east of Holyrood about 7:50 a.m. Friday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, Thach was southbound on Fifth Road in a 1998 Ford F-150 and failed to yield at K-156. He pulled in front of a 2012 semi driven by Brian S. Galgani, 24, of Lutz, Fla., that was westbound on K-156. Thach’s vehicle came to rest in the west ditch. According to the report, he was not wearing a seat belt.
Galgani and a passenger, Randall L. Moulds, 23, of St. Petersburg, Fla., were not injured. Galgani was wearing a seat belt, but Moulds was not, according to the report.
The Kansas Highway Patrol Critical Highway Accident Response Team is responding to a fatal crash involving a commercial vehicle at Kansas Highway 156 and Fifth Road in Holyrood, in Ellsworth County, according to trooper Ben Gardner of the highway patrol.
The crash occurred about 7:50 a.m.
According to Gardner’s Twitter posts, Kansas Highway 156 is closed in that area because of the crash. A KHP aircraft was being sent to the area to take aerial photographs.
