Lawrence,IA : Man and killed when motorcycle collides with car in Lawrence on April, monday 1st 2017

A 19-year-old man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car Monday night in Lawrence, authorities said.

The fatality victim was identified as Seth Quick, of Lawrence.

The crash occurred about 9:10 p.m. at McDonald Drive and Rockledge Road. The location is just south of the Iowa Street exit off Interstate 70 on the Kansas Turnpike.

Lawrence police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said Quick was southbound on a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle with a juvenile male passenger when the bike collided with a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 19-year-old woman.

Quick was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger was airlifted to a Kansas City-area hospital with serious injuries, Rhoads said.

Quick wasn’t wearing a helmet, Rhoads said, though his passenger was.

The Mitsubishi’s driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries that weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

The crash remained under investigation Tuesday.
