Orange City,FL : Man facing vehicular homicide charges in crash that killed 2 people on may, thursday 11th 2017
man was arrested after a rear-end crash killed two people on Dean Road early Thursday morning, state troopers say.
Kevin Hart, 21, of Merritt Island, was booked into the Orange County Jail on two counts of vehicular homicide, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Additional charges are pending after the results of a blood-alcohol test, Sgt. Kim Montes said.
Troopers say Hart was behind the wheel of a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that failed to slow down and struck the back of a Mitsubishi Mirage at the intersection of Dean Road and Buck Road in east Orange County.
FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes said Jeffrey Ali, 55, and an unidentified woman were in the Mirage and had stopped in the left turn lane, facing west on Buck Road.
As Hart approached, he failed to stop and his car struck the back of the Mirage, pushing it through the intersection, according to FHP. Hart’s car, with three passengers inside, then struck a tree.
