Plattsburgh, N.Y : Cadyville man dies in a two-car collision in Beekmantown on Sunday, March 12, 2017

A Cadyville man died in a two-car collision here Sunday.

Richard Oviett, 62, was driving north on Rand Hill Road at about 3:10 p.m. when a vehicle driven south by Brooke L. Lushia, 24, of Plattsburgh swerved into Oviett's lane, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said in a press release.

Lushia's 2001 Volkswagen Passat struck Oviett's 2001 Mercury Sable head-on, police said, causing it to spin off the road and strike a tree off the east shoulder.

Clinton County Coroner David F. Donah declared Oviett dead at the accident site. His body was taken to University of Vermont Health Network, Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh, where an autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Lushia was brought by ambulance to CVPH. She was discharged Monday, according to the hospital's Sr. Marketing and Communications Specialist Chris Blake.
